What is the Course About?
Vocational Competence Qualification(4270-13)
Vocational Related Qualification (4290-13)
This Level 3 City & Guilds qualification is designed to give students developing a career in the Motor Industry the opportunity to achieve a recognised level of competence. The practical aspect will involve the diagnosis and rectification of complex vehicle faults across all areas. The Level 3 qualification takes one year to complete and the students will attend college one day per week on a part – time day release basis. The delivery of this qualification will take place at the William Kennish building, Greenfield road, Douglas.

• Competency in Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Engine Faults.
• Competency in Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Chassis System Faults.
• Competency in Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Auxiliary Electrical Faults.
• Competency in Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Engine Mechanical Units.
• Competency in Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Transmission and Driveline Faults.
• Knowledge of Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Engine Faults.
• Knowledge of Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Chassis Faults.
• Knowledge of Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Auxiliary Electrical Faults.
• Knowledge of Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Engine Units.
• Knowledge of Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Transmission and Driveline Faults.
How will I be assessed?
You will have to complete 5 on-line Knowledge based tests and generate a portfolio of evidence from the practical workshop based tasks, which will have been carried out in the workshop.
Entry requirements
The candidate MUST be employed by a recognised vehicle repairer and have achieved at least 2 GCSE’s Grade D from Mathematics, Science or English or will have successfully achieved a Level Two award that will lead to progression.
